SANTA BARBARA, Calif., February 13, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — TV Santa Barbara (TVSB), the area’s community media access center since 1974, works with Healing Justice SB and the Martin Luther King Jr. Committee of St. Barbara to produce and broadcast impactful local programming honoring Black History Month.
“We are proud to provide a platform where the diverse stories of our community can be shared,” said Erik Davis, executive director of TV Santa Barbara. “These community partnerships are especially meaningful as we celebrate and recognize the history, accomplishments and influences of our Black community.”
Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Channel 17, TVSB will broadcast a new episode of Voices of Liberation now via March 23, 2022. Hear conversations with members of the Black community, grassroots BIPOC community organizers, and activists who are building healthy, restorative, and inclusive communities.
Every Saturday from February to 9am on Channel 17, TVSB will air Chocolate Baby Story Time, a 30-minute program produced by Healing Justice SB. This family program celebrates the joy of darkness and the joy of reading. Gather the whole family as St. Barbara leaders and educators read beloved children’s books and share sing-along songs.
Also in February, TV Santa Barbara will air a special honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. This new show, produced by TVSB and the Martin Luther King Jr. Committee of St. Barbarawill feature guest speakers, messages from elected officials, dance and inspiring choir music.
