Serious Illegal Detention Lawsuit Filed By Vhong Navarro Against Deniece, Cedric Ongoing

As TV host and comedian Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro faces rape and lasciviousness charges filed by model Deniece Cornejo, the trial for the serious unlawful detention case he filed against her and six other people is still ongoing.

This was mentioned by Navarro’s attorney after his bail hearing at Branch 69 of the Taguig Regional Trial Court, which is handling the rape case.

“We are not finished with the serious case of illegal detention. The trial is ongoing and we hope to achieve the best results there,” said Alma Mallonga, Navarro’s legal advisor.

In 2014, the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a serious unlawful detention case against Cornejo, Cedric Lee, Bernice Cua Lee, Simeon Palma Raz Jr., Jose Paolo Gregorio Calma, Ferdinand Guerrero, and Sajed Fernandez Abuhijleh.

The case accused the seven defendants of detaining Navarro inside Cornejo’s condominium in Taguig on January 22, 2014, where he was beaten. The respondents allegedly demanded 2 million pesos from Navarro.

The Court of Appeal (CA) recently denied Lee’s request to dismiss the serious unlawful detention case he faces.

“There is no longer any immediate impediment to us completing the unlawful detention case. Now it’s the defense’s turn. In fact, na-cross-examine na if Mr. Cedric Lee there (Actually, Mr. Cedric Lee has already been cross-examined there). Only Miss Deniece Cornejo remains to testify in the serious case of illegal detention. Let’s see what happens,” Mallonga said.
