JEDDAH: The three-day SOL music festival, which ended on Saturday, featured an eclectic lineup of local, regional and global DJs and artists, which thrilled crowds on Jeddah’s waterfront.
Held for the first time on Buhairat Beach, the event also featured a fashion party featuring contemporary clothing brands, art installations, handicrafts from local artisans and food trucks.
SOL is an exclusive community that aims to bring together local fans of music, fashion and art. Their goal is to highlight local artists and talents.
Managed by ENTX and EGO talents, an event management company, SOL offered pure ecstasy to music lovers in Jeddah.
Ibtisam Al-Somali, CEO of ENTX, said, “We have created a festival that is a comprehensive art, fashion, food and performance experience, including live performances by actors on (the ) field and on stage.”
“We collaborated with pioneers Karaz and Neo Nomad Digital in Jeddah to create and produce a rare experience for audiences by finding new artists and talent,” Al-Somali added.
“As this is the first edition, we are still learning about the music market and their interest in new…talents. It was not easy to create an event with emerging or non-star artists.
Al-Somali said it was not easy trying to convince the industry that there was a lot of talent to be tapped in the country. They have partnered with music companies such as EGO talents, HRMNY, Karaz, Neo Nomad Digital and BRIJ Entertainments.
Fahad Al-Saud, CEO of Karaz and co-partner of SOL Jeddah, said: “Karaz is delighted to have provided our consulting services to ENTX and the role we have played in advising and supporting them in this event. . As a team of local and international professionals, our mission is to bring a sense of community and collaboration to the Kingdom and we are honored to have been part of this growing industry in the Kingdom.
Nezar Tashkandi, Aerial Director and Producer of Glider Aerial Solutions, and top drone pilot, handled all media production, including live broadcast and drone filming. “The event was very special because it brought together the whole new generation of Saudi artists in one place to be exposed to the world. It’s a great experience to be surrounded by talented people.
Misha Saied, director of the festival’s media production team and main driver of photography and videography, said, “I enjoyed documenting SOL. The team worked very hard to set up a proper stage with a (crisp) sound system and visually pleasing lighting. It was special because the team was heavily invested in the artists they were booking, especially the local heroes. It’s nice to see talented local artists getting the recognition they deserve.
Several artists told Arab News that SOL helped them gain attention.
Saud Al-Turki, Saudi Arabian music producer, curator and owner of BRIJ Entertainment, said, “There is nothing like playing at home and being able to use my music to bring good energy to my people; (it is) an unparalleled feeling. Such an initiative as SOL is a beautiful thing. Bringing together artists from all over the world is the essence of what music is and it is also the true mission of BRIJ Entertainment.
Jeme, born and based in Riyadh, is another Saudi Arabian music producer, DJ and founder of KNZ Record Label and a music lab. “Being part of this new experience formed by local brands and connecting with local and international artists was amazing. I personally believe that it’s always exciting to connect and meet new and familiar faces on stage. We even had the chance to interact with the audience after the show. This intimate experience of speaking with the crowd was amazing.
DJ Zii performed for the first time on a stage in front of a large audience and called the experience “magical”.
