Live updates on the aftermath of Johnny Depp’s lawsuit against Amber Heard: appeal heard, mistrial, Vasquez, hate, Beck’s tour…
‘Keep me out,’ says Evan Rachel Wood
A number of outlets are claiming that Westworld actress Evan Rachel Wood apparently (or other words to that effect) supports Amber Heard after the trial, claiming that Wood published the findings of the Bot Sentinel report (read our report) which stated, in relation to their investigation into online bots used to attack Heard: “What we observed was one of the worst cases of cyberbullying and cyberstalking by a group of Twitter accounts that we have ever seen”, noting thatt 627 accounts were created for the sole purpose of tweeting about the libel lawsuit and attacking Heard and his supporters.
Note that these outlets are just claiming that Evan Rachel Wood is apparently supporting Heard, but the actress has now posted on Instagram saying she said 6 years ago she wouldn’t comment and she still hasn’t that is to say stop putting words in my mouth.
Wood asks media to avoid headlines that ‘put her in danger’
In a series of posts to her Instagram story (which will disappear within 24 hours of posting), she says, “If you’re worried about my feed being inundated with hate, then I’d avoid headlines that put me in danger, like these, which are not based on facts”. These are the headlines claiming she supports Heard.
Wood has been the target of online abuse in connection with his allegations of abuse by Marilyn Manson, his former fiancé. She first publicly named the singer, real name Brian Warner, as her alleged abuser in a post in early 2021, claiming Manson had “”horribly abused [her] for years” and that she had been “brainwashed and manipulated” by him. Manson denies the allegations made against him, and in In March of this year, Manson’s legal team announced a libel suit against Wood.
With hate groups marauding in the aftermath of the Depp v. Heard lawsuit, calling someone a Heard supporter has the potential to lead those groups to then target that person. If someone says they have no comment, then they have no comment.
