POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE RUNNING: Regional Council

PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: WCDSB Director 2006, Municipal Candidate 2010, Provincial Election Candidate 2018

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO RUN? This is an election for change. This is the opportunity for every voter to be able to elect people with new ideas and a new vision for our region. With over 20 years in the banking industry, I can help our region make better and more tax-responsible choices with our taxpayers’ money.

HOW WILL YOU EMBRACE AND PROMOTE DIVERSITY IN THIS ROLE?

I’m going…

-Promote all aspects of diversity, inclusion and equality

-Ensure all advisors are aware of their personal responsibility to support inclusion

– Push for a permanent community on diversity and inclusion

– Attend regular events and participate in training opportunities

WHAT ARE YOUR THREE MAIN PROBLEMS?

Homelessness, housing affordability, environment.

Homelessness I will continue and build on the work our current council has done. Think outside the box to find ways to get people off the streets.

Push for more affordable housing projects. Find other ways to increase our inventory.

While growth is key to the region’s success, we also need to be mindful of our environmental impacts.

IF YOU ARE ELECTED, WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FIRST 100 DAYS?

We need to tackle the homelessness crisis we face. With the winter months coming, the current situation is not ideal and we need to correct that.

Ask staff to investigate our current transit services and see how we can make them more reliable and accessible. Develop a plan for modifying and updating routes.
