Convicted Murderer Appears in Evander Regional Court for Fraud – Ridge Times

Convicted murderer Sandile Kagiso Mantsoe (33) has made headlines again after he was commandeered from Bloemfontein prison by Hawks Middelburg’s Serious Commercial Crime

Investigation that linked him to an investment fraud case at Evander.

A subpoena has been issued for Mantsoe to appear in Evander Regional Court on Monday, August 22.

The case has been adjourned to September 27, pending further investigation.

It is alleged that in December 2016, Mantsoe recruited around 180 investors from government offices such as Ministry of Justice, Municipal Offices and Ministry of Education, to invest over R2 million for return on investment higher.

It is further alleged that Mantsoe failed to make payments to his clients as promised.

One of his victims reported the matter to Evander Police Station on December 27, 2016.

If convicted, the state seeks a maximum sentence of 15 years or a fine of R100 million, or both such a fine and imprisonment.

Mantsoe was found guilty of murder, frustrating the ends of justice and assault causing grievous bodily harm at the Johannesburg High Court in May 2018.

He was sentenced to 32 years in prison for the murder of his former girlfriend, Karabo Mokoena (22).

Mantsoe removed Mokoena’s body from her Sandton flat and attempted to cover up the crime by burning her remains.

Mokoena’s remains which were burned beyond recognition were found in an open field in Johannesburg.

The story made national media headlines and the local community was shocked because Mantsoe grew up in eMbalenhle and enrolled in a local school in Secunda.

The story also shed light on the fight against gender-based violence (GBV) against women and children in South Africa.

Mantsoe’s social media profiles were the story of a luxurious lifestyle he led at the expense of many victims who invested in his Trillion Dollar Legacy investment scheme.
